WEB WORKING GROUP
Role:
- To address issues related to the WSU Libraries' web presence and services, including web pages, SFX, SearchIt!, and web-based display of the online catalog.
Mission:
- The Web Working Group will facilitate a superior patron experience with the Libraries' web-based content, through consistent formatting, logical organization, and ongoing usability assessment.
Vision:
- The Web WG strives to provide electronic access to all information in our collections, regardless of original format, to any WSU patron, located anywhere on the planet, using any web-enabled device.
Membership to be appointed by Library Council:
- Site Content Manager
- Site Technical Manager
- SFX/SearchIt! Manager
- Instructional Design Librarian
- Hum/Soc Electronic Resources Librarian ('Asst. Webmaster')
- Science Electronic Resources Librarian ('Asst. Webmaster')
- Animal Health Electronic Resources Librarian ('Asst. Webmaster')
- WSU Vancouver Electronic Resources Librarian ('Asst. Webmaster')
- 1 MASC representative
- 1 representative regional campus librarian
All positions are ex officio except the regional campus rep who will serve at least a one year term.
Governance:
The Web Working Group reports to the Assistant Dean of Libraries. The working group will select its own chair for a 6 month minimum term (Jan-June; July-Dec) and will meet regularly or as needed. Chair and Recorder will be up for rotation every Fall and Spring semester. The chair rotates alphabetical by the member's representation. The recorder is the previous chair. The group will coordinate its activities with other working groups and library departments, as warranted. Working groups will establish procedures and make policy within the scope of their responsibilities. Working groups are accountable for their decisions and are expected to share decisions with library colleagues using the standard working groups procedure. Any proposals generated by a working group that require funding for implementation must be referred to either the Assistant Dean of Libraries or Library Council for funding approval. Similarly, any proposals with very broad policy implications also need Library Council approval. The chair of the working group is expected to update Library Council on its activities on a regular basis.

- To act as the Editorial Board for the university publication known as the WSU Libraries Web Site, ensuring consistent style, appropriate content, and usability of all resources and services provided through this medium. (Resources and services include, but are not limited to, web-based catalog displays, databases, integrative software such as SFX and SearchIt!, digital collections, and the like).
- To coordinate the activities related to web-based resources with the Library Instruction/Reference Working Group and other working groups, task forces and committees when appropriate.
- To evaluate the Libraries' web presence and services for both usability and accessibility.
- To maintain a liaison with the WSU Web Committee.
