This online exhibit of Selected Bindings by Virginia Woolf highlights one of the unique features of the personal Library of Leonard and Virginia Woolf located in Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections at Washington State University. Contained in the Woolf Library are over 150 volumes bound or, as often was the case, rebound by Virginia Woolf. A quick examination of the following bindings will reveal that Virginia Woolf probably regarded her binding efforts (in most cases) as temporary steps taken for maintaining the integrity of her books, rather than as examples of fine craftsmanship. The bindings do, however, provide a valuable insight into the author's personal tastes, and literary interests.

The images are organized in alphabetical order according to the author and/or title of the book. All of these books may be found in the Washington State University Libraries online catalog.

A similar exhibit displaying examples of annotations, drawings, and other features of provenance from the Library of Leonard and Virginia Woolf, is in process.
