Biography/History
Washington State University’s General Education Visioning Committee was created in 2008 with representatives from a dozen campus departments. The Provost’s Office charged the committee to provide “a vision and strategy” for General Education within a year.
Prior to this committee, WSU’s model of General Education was a compromise model that embodied strengths of different models current in the 1980s, derived from an intensive study of general education models of the time. Based on the GEVC’s conclusions, in 2011 the University approved a new UCORE (University Common Requirements) program.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of the complete meeting minutes of Washington State University’s General Education Visioning Committee, as well as supporting documents, earlier reports which informed the committee’s actions, and a final report for the Provost’s office.
Arrangement
A small folder of summary and introductory information is the first folder, and then the other materials are arranged chronologically.
