[Item Description] Lester R. Greenwood "Third Parties" Political Periodicals Collection, 1920-2007 (SC 008)
Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections, Washington State University Libraries, Pullman, WA.
Biography/History
Lester Greenwood first began collecting newspapers and printed ephemera of political third parties as a student at Washington State College (now University) in the 1950s. By 2008, when he donated the collection to WSU, it represented over 50 years of collecting and reflected his lifelong curiosity about diverse political groups.
Scope and Content
The collection consists primarily of newspapers produced by parties and organizations on the American political left, including Trotskyist, Left Communist, World Socialist, Anarchist, and Marxist. In most cases these are scattered issues. The collection also includes some materials related to the political right. In addition to newspapers, there are non-newspaper periodicals, related ephemera, and a small amount of manuscript material.
Arrangement
The collection is listed by title in a single alphabetical sequence, with a few miscellaneous files listed at the end. The physical arrangement is based on both the material format (size) and the alphabetical sequence.
The physical location for each title is indicated by the box number (or the term "Oversize") and folder number.
Location Note (Masc Staff Use): Basement range 1:1 (including oversize folders).
