Biography/History
The departments which became the College of Mechanic Arts and Engineering at Washington State College were in place when the school opened in 1892, with the first graduates in 1897. In 1946, reorganization established the Washington State Institute of Technology as the entity which included the academic departments of the College of Engineering, the School of Mines, the Division of Industrial Research and the Division of Industrial Service. The Institute was again reorganized in July 1966 into a College of Engineering with academic departments, a Research Division and a Technical Extension Service. In 1984, it was redefined as Washington State University's College of Engineering and Architecture.
Scope and Content
One 93 page photo album containing 105 black and white photographs, all taken circa 1928, of Washington State College, including faculty, students, and engineering classrooms, and campus buildings. Also included are scenes and views of rivers and dams in Washington, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona, and Oregon. It appears that the embossed album was a gift to WSC President Ernest O. Holland.

Materials are retained in their original casing and ordering. Pages 1-52 of the album depict the programs, research, and facilities within the College of Mechanic Arts and Science, including sections on Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
