Biography/History
Washington State University's library system dates to 1891, when the first library, predating the start of instruction, was a small set of shelves in the Presidents Office. After a few years (1892-1894) in the original College Hall, the library occupied the top floor of the Thompson Hall (1894-1909), after which it was the north half of Bryan Hall (1909-1952). The Holland Library was opened in 1952. The Owen Science and Engineering Library opened in 1977, and the "New Addition" (later Terrell Library) to the Holland Library opened in 1994. Numerous other departmental libraries have existed over the years, as well as libraries on the non-Pullman WSU campuses.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of several sets of material related to Washington State University's Library systems. The bulk of the materials is two sets of photo albums which document the construction of the Terrell Library from 1990-1994. Additional small sets of material deal with other library facilities on staff both on the Pullman campus and at WSU Vancouver.
Arrangement
The first two boxes each contain independent sets of photo albums documenting the construction of Terrell Library. The third contains numerous smaller sets of library photographs, in alphabetical order.
