E.G. Clemans Photographs Collection, 1903-1910
Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections, Washington State University Libraries, Pullman, WA.
Biography/History
Earle George Clemans grew up on the farm of his father, Willam Clemans Sr., in the Asotin, WA area. He enrolled at Washington State University (then the Washington Agricultural College) in 1903 and graduated in 1907 with a bachelor’s degree in Economic Sciences and History. With his brothers, Clemans ran the Clemans Land and Cattle Co. in Arizona. E.G. Clemans passed away in 1943.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of photographs of students and campus activities of the Washington Agricultural College (later Washington State University), collected by E.G. Clemans during his time as a student. They include personalized individual student portraits, football game photos, depictions of student military training camps, and other items. The majority of the student portraits were Clemans’ classmates.
Arrangement
The collection is arranged alphabetically by subject. Within the student portraits, the students are organized alphabetically, and the date given with them is date of likely graduation, as taken either from the photograph or yearbooks of the day. They may not reflect actual graduation years.
