Biography/History

The full Reisenauer clan, consisting of four brothers, their mother, and their families, moved from Fort Scott Kansas to Colton WA in 1886. Carl Reisenauer (1897-1995) was born on his family's Colton farm, and, outside of a short military stint, lived his whole life in Colton working as a postman.

Scope and Content

The collection primarily consists of family photographs and work photographs ca. 1900-1930 of Carl Reisenauer, a Colton, WA postman. Two military photographs are also included, one World War I at Washington State College, and one World War II at Camp Roberts, California.

Detailed Description of Collection

12 photographs, primarily of Carl Reisenauer delivering mail, either on foot, by horse, or by car. Also included is a photo of a salmon cannery at Funter's Bay, Alaska.

2 military training photographs, one World War I at WSC's Rogers Field, one World War II at Camp Roberts, California (bearing an RTC 77A flag). Also included is a Nov. 26, 1942 Thanksgiving menu for Company A, 77th Infantry Training Battalion, Camp Roberts, California.

10 Reisenauer family photographs, mostly children, plus a 1914 memorial card for Michael Reisenauer.

One 11"x13" studio photograph of 11 members of the family. 1914.

Donor correspondence, a short handwritten family history, and a 1989 newspaper article about Carl Reisenauer.
