Biography/History

Frederick Albert Blackwell moved to northern Idaho in 1902, where he was active in milling and mining and soon owned and operated the Coeur d'Alene & Spokane Railroad. Circa 1904-1910 he created two photo albums, one personal and one for business promotional purposes.

The albums remained in the family, and in 1976 his great grandson Frederick Warn Blackwell received a grant through the Washington State Historians' Bicentennial Project to create slide sets from the albums.
