Biography/History
Dr. Wolfgang A. Luchting (1927-1999) was a Washington State University professor of Foreign Languages and Literature, specializing in Latin American literature. He was born in Munich, Germany and attended the University of Munich, where he earned his Ph.D. in 1956. Prior to teaching, he worked as a translator for the British Consul General in Munich (Luchting could speak German, English, and Spanish), and as a journalist in Germany and South America. He began teaching in 1962 in Ohio, but moved around before settling down to teach at WSU in 1966. He wrote multiple anthologies and monographs on Peruvian writers. He retired from the university in 1991.
Scope and Content
This collection consists of papers of Wolfgang Luchting, Washington State University Professor of Foreign Languages. All of the papers relate to a single project, a monumental critical anthology about machismo in literature. The collection includes the manuscript of the unpublished anthology, and correspondence about Luchting's efforts to have it published.
