(From the guide tothe Pullman Fortnightly Club Records, 1893-1996, Cage 630)

The Pullman Fortnightly Club was organized in 1893 by Harriet E. Bryan, wife of Washington State Agricultural College (now Washington State University) President Enoch A. Bryan, as a women's literary society. In its opening year the club inducted twenty-five members, with a $2 membership fee. The Pullman Fortnightly Club conducts bi-monthly meetings from September to April, at which members present their analyses of classical and contemporary works of poetry, drama, and fiction. It holds breakfast meetings, annual anniversary dinners, and participates in events benefiting the public, including its purchase of Thatuna Park (today a public softball field) along the Palouse River. The Pullman Fortnightly Club serves as one of the oldest organizations in the community.
