Biography/History
Dale W. Fields (1922-1992) was raised on a farm near the town of McPherson in central Kansas. He was a farm reporter, and served in the U.S. Army in World War II (Company C, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division). In 1953, he moved to Spokane, WA, where he lived until his death in 1992.
Scope and Content
Collected research material for a book Dale Fields planned on agriculture, for a general audience. Much from breed associations and manufacturers of tools and machines, including photographs. Cattle, sheep, goats, swine, horses, poultry. Mainly consists of ephemera, specifically, pamphlets published by breeding organizations and manufacturers of farm equipment. Fields solicited these materials for a book he intended to write on cattle, swine, poultry, horses, sheep and goats, and farm equipment. This collection also contains correspondence to these organizations stating his research interest and a small handful of books, mainly on farm equipment companies. The collection also contains stock photographs of farm animals and machinery.
