Biography/History
Alexander Swantz graduated from Washington State College in 1941 with a degree in Agricultural Economics, and went on to a career with the United States Department of Agriculture as an agricultural economist and administrator. In the 1950s and 1960s, he was the Federal Milk Market Administrator for the Inland Empire Marketing Area, based in Spokane, WA.
Scope and Content
This collection consists of professional papers of agricultural economist and USDA administrator Alex Swantz, along with dairy industry history material that he collected. It includes a small amount of correspondence, a speech, a set of issues of "The Market Administrator's Report," miscellaneous papers, and issues of dairy industry periodicals and ephemera.
