Biography/History

Washington Water Power Company, an investor-owned electric and gas utility company based in Spokane, WA, was founded 1889. In addition to its primary business as a public utility, Washington Water Power also operated other business enterprises in Spokane, including streetcar lines and Natatorium Park, a public amusement park. In 1998, the company name was changed to Avista Corporation.
Scope and Content
This is a collection of Washington Water Power Company newsletters for residential customers, dated 1965-1987. During that time span, the newsletter had various titles: Family Gazette, WWP Family Gazette, Washington Water Power Gazette, and Gazette. The issues contain brief articles, columns on domestic topics such as household hints, cookery, and home maintenance, and WWP company advertisements.
