Typescripts by various authors and editors of "a series of thumbnail sketches of Washington history prepared under the editorial supervision of the Washington State Historical Society in recognition of the Washington Territorial Centennial" (note included in each essay). Most of these essays, along with others not included in this collection, were published together in a pamphlet in 1954 as Grassroot Cuttings: Sources of the History of the Territory of Washington, by the Longview Daily News. The Washington Territorial Centennial History Committee was responsible for the Grassroot[s] Cuttings project.
