Biography/History
Luther Otis Dana (1859-1964) was husband to Laura Mary Chamberlain Dana until her death in 1927. Amongst their children was Homer Jackson Dana (1890-1970), engineer and professor at Washington State College.
Dana then married Blanche Hess Williams Dana (1871-1958) in Pullman, WA. While residing in Pullman, they were both very active in the teachings and affairs of the Pullman Church of the Nazarene.
Scope and Content
This collection consists of correspondence (1896-1963), pocket diaries (1896-1953), photographs, and other materials relating to the semi-retired farmer and carpenter, Luther Otis Dana, and his second wife, Blanche Hess Williams Dana, chiefly during their later years in Pullman, WA. Primary subjects of the materials are family affairs and the Danas' intense interest in the Pullman Church of the Nazarene.
Also included is a daguerreotype photograph (undated, with unidentified subjects), the 1888 wedding certificate of Luther Otis Dana and his first wife, Laura Mary Chamberlain, a photograph of Homer Jackson Dana at age three, and a bound handbook by Joseph Gray titled "Bible Study Outlines." The correspondence includes handwritten and typed letters, and greeting cards.
