Biographical/Historical note
The Henco Brewery was purchased January 26, 1899, from Theodore Henco, by Reinhard Martin. In July, 1900, it became the Henco Branch of Spokane Brewing and Malting Company, although Martin was retained as trustee and brewer.
The Spokane Brewing and Malting Company was founded 1900 in a merger / purchase of the Henco Brewery and the New York Brewery (both established in 1886). In 1902 the Galland-Burke Brewing and Malting Company was purchased by S.B. & M. All three breweries were operated, at least initially, as branch breweries. The company remained in business until the mid-thirties when the assets were sold to the Sicks-Rainier brewing interests of Puget Sound. Plant operations continued until 1962.
