Historical Note
Glenn Terrell was served as President of Washington State University from 1967-1985. He started his term in July 1967 after serving as Dean of Faculties at the University of Illinois Chicago Circle. The University President is the chief executive of the University and the Secretary of the Board of Regents. The duties of the office are are explained for archival users in the preface to the finding aid/guide for Archives 159, President's Office Records, 1915-1945.
Scope and Contents note
This collection consists of documents used in the planning of W. Glenn Terrell's inauguration, letter congratulating Terrell on his new position, and photographs of the inauguration and associated events.
Arrangement note
This collection is arranged into two series.
Series 1: Papers, 1967-1968. This series consists of documents concerning the planning of the inauguration and letters congratulating Terrell on his new postion.
Series 2: Photographs and Negatives, 1968. This series consists of photographs, negatives, and contact sheets from the inauguration and associated events. There are approximately 900 prints and 1050 negatives. This series is arranged chronologically.

Custodial History note
Although the materials almost certainly originated from the President's Office, the exact provenance of this collection is unclear. The records were originally kept as a WSU publication (WSU 131). The records were redesignated as University Archives 262 before being processed under its current designation (UA 162).
Processing Information note
This collection was processed by University Archivist Mark O'English in 2011. Prior to processing the collection was a part of University Archives 262, but was not properly arranged or described.

Separated Materials note
Two folders were removed from the collection. A set of "Letters from Glenn Terrel" were moved to WSU Publications (WSU 132) and correspondence dealing with Survey '68 was moved to Folder 146.1 in President Terrell's earlier papers (UA 205).
