Aerial Photographs, 1935-1957

The aerial photographs in this collection were primarily remnants - acquired as parts of other collections or as individual unaccessioned gifts over a number of years. They were processed in December, 2011 by University Archivist Mark O'English.

Number of containers: 2 o.s. drawers
Linear feet of shelf space: 3

The collection consists of individual aerial photographs (maps) and indexes. The majority of the collection consists of images of Whitman County and the Pullman region, but additional sets of photographic indexes to two other Washington counties are included, as are a sequence documenting the lower Columbia River. Virtually all of the sets of photographs are incomplete.

The photographs are foldered in sets and organized primarily with preservation in mind, with the more commonly used (Pullman/Whitman regions) above the less often used. Pullman-region images are first, listed chronologically, then Whitman County, again chronologically, followed by the remaining two folders, with the more fragile Columbia River photographs located beneath the others.

Selected maps from this collection have been digitized and can be found online in the: Early Washington Maps Digital Collection

LOCATION NOTE (Internal Use Only)
