Scope and Contents note

This collection consists of two scrapbooks created by Stuart Wright during his service with Company 1651 of the Civilian Conservation Corps, from Ft. Sheridan, Illinois. Wright was the company supply clerk (storekeeper), and also edited the Timber Times, the company newsletter. The scrapbooks include materials collected by Wright during the company's assignments in California (Camp Warm Springs, F-137, Saugus, and Camp Williams Canyon, Claremont) and Idaho (Camp Black Bear, F-148, near Lewiston). Many items are directly related to the activities of the CCC: issues of the  Timber Times; documentation of company stores and supplies; accident reports, receipts, event programs, and miscellaneous printed ephemera; correspondence; a brief personal narrative by Wright; clippings from newspapers and newsletters, both CCC and local. Other items reflect Wright's personal interests, including clippings of general news stories and memorabilia from events (mainly theater and sports).
