Organizational History
(Note: this information was provided by the Berger Partnership, PS)
Thomas L. Berger, a 1968 graduate of the Landscape Architecture program at Washington State University, founded The Berger Partnership PS in 1971. The original name of the firm was Thomas L. Berger, Landscape Architect Site Planner, and it consisted of two employees. In 1980, as the number of employees grew and the depth of project types expanded, the organizational structure changed from a sole-proprietor to a corporation, and it was renamed Thomas L. Berger Associates PS, Landscape Architecture Site Planning. A decade later, with four partners and more than 25 employees, the name was again revised to The Berger Partnership PS, to reflect the collaborative efforts of the new leadership and staff.
As of 2008, the firm employed 30 professional, technical and administrative personnel and provided a full spectrum of landscape architectural and site planning services for public and private clients. In addition to the many residential clients served, some of the firm's most notable commercial projects include the award-winning Weight Watchers Headquarters and REI Flagship Store in Seattle; Washington State Department of Ecology in Lacey; and IslandWood, a School in the Woods on Bainbridge Island, the first Gold LEEDŽ rated project in Washington State.

Berger and Steven P. Shea to be included in the collection, based on their judgment of historic or professional significance.
For some projects, the drawings include both paper and digital formats (.pdf files, stored on compact disc).
