ASSESSMENT WORKING GROUP (AWG)
WORKING AGREEMENT
ATTENDANCE
- Members arrive on time for meetings.
- If unable to attend, members notify the chair in advance and send any input or documents. (Chair may table items if necessary). An alternate (proxy) may be designated to attend.
- Members assume responsibility for informing themselves of what occurred at missed meetings.
- Guests are welcome, and should contact the Chair in advance.
PREPARATION & PARTICIPATION
- Members are prepared for every meeting.
- Members are ready to lead discussions of assigned agenda items.
- Members respect everyone’s right to speak and be listened to without interruption.
- Members allow constructive criticism of their ideas or proposals as part of the group process.
DECISION-MAKING
- Members make decisions by consensus. Consensus means that each member has an opportunity to participate in the development of the decision, and that all members are willing to "live with" the decision. It does not mean that the decision is necessarily everyone’s first choice, but that all members commit to working toward the implementation of the decision and not obstructing its implementation.
- Members take a system-wide perspective when considering issues and making decisions.
- Feedback on proposed actions will be actively solicited from affected units or working groups
OPERATING PROCEDURES
- At the end of each meeting:
- Members set a tentative agenda for the next meeting, which is emailed in advance of the next meeting.
- Members confirm decisions made and how best to communicate them to everyone.
- Members review and confirm assigned tasks.
- Deadlines will be assigned for all issues and projects.
- In January, members will review the Working Agreement each year.
- In January, chairs will be selected for January-June and July-December terms. This policy may be reviewed and changed, as necessary.
- Recorder duties will rotate alphabetically among members for six month terms starting in January and July.
- Minutes will be sent to AWG members via the listserv within three working days and to the Decision Digest within seven working days after the meeting.
