  • Explore opportunities for cross-unit training.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to the Director’s Advisory Council as appropriate.

Governance:

The formation of a mid-managers group was recommended by the 2005 consultant’s report and approved by the Assistant Directors. The group will be flexible in its thinking and open to creative approaches to problem solving. The group will coordinate its activities with other working groups and library departments, as warranted. Working groups will establish procedures and make policy within the scope of their responsibilities. Working groups are accountable for their decisions and are expected to share decisions with library colleagues using standard working group procedure. Any proposals generated by a working group that require funding for implementation must be referred to the Director’s Advisory Council for funding review. Similarly, any proposals with very broad policy implications also need the Director’s Advisory Council review. The chair of the working group is expected to update the Director’s Advisory Council on its activities on a regular basis.
