Arsenyev Museum

The building occupied today by the Consolidated State Museum of Primorye, named after V. K. Arsenyev, has served several purposes.   Known as “The House of Babintsev” before the Revolution, it was first the headquarters of the trading firm of Bryner, Kuznetsov & Co.  The building has also housed the Siberian Trade Bank and a variety of stores, consulates, and apartments. I n 1930 it was given to the Pacific Research Institute of Fishery and Oceanography.  At present the “Arsenyev Museum” owns and occupies the whole building, exhibiting aspects of the cultures of the indigenous peoples of Primorye, highlights of the history of exploration and settlement of the region, and displays of more recent events.
