Abstract
The College of Agriculture, supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (AID) and the government of Indonesia, partnered with eight institutions of the Association of Eastern Island Universities in a multi-million dollar, five-year cooperative education program that began in the October 1979 and concluded at the end of June 1984. The program involved WSU faculty and graduate students working in Indonesia and Indonesian faculty and graduate students visiting the Pullman campus. Biography/History

For more information on the program, see the following two articles from WSU's Hilltopics magazine (WSU 175), both reproduced in the Processing File at the end of this collection: "University Eyes Indonesian Pact," WSU Hilltopics, May 1978, 5. "Indonesia: Dean Hill Observes, Evaluates Program To Improve Agriculture, Living Conditions," WSU Hilltopics, 19 April 1981, 20.

Scope and Content

The video tapes are clearly labeled with speakers and dated 1981. Affixed to the audio tapes are adhesive labels with the speaker(s) named but without date and topic, though the project's chronology places them in years from 1979 to 1984. Upon donation to MASC, Dr. Waananen identified the audio recordings as "statements of participants, etc." The speakers seem to address a non-WSU audience visiting WSU and thus may be from a visit to the Pullman campus by the Indonesian participants. Pre-processing of the collection identified some of the topics.

Other than the processing file, all items in the collection are recordings: 38 standard 1/8" audio cassettes and 7 3/4" Umatic standard video cassettes (8 5/8" x 5 3/8" x 1 3/16").

Arrangement

Collection is arranged in two short series, video followed by audio. Arrangement was primarily determined for ease of storage and preservation.
