Biography/History
Attorney Robert "Bob" Burks, Washington State College class of 1954, was a lifetime Washington State Cougar football fan (his father was a center for the Cougars in 1923). Burks began collecting clippings and photos as a child, and continued doing so all his life, compiling scrapbooks of them. In 1980, Richard Fry's book on WSU sports history, The Crimson and the Gray: 100 Years with the WSU Cougars describes Bob Burks on pages 274-275 as "hands down" WSU's number one football fan. Burks passed away in Bellevue, Washington on July 10th, 2009.
Biography/History
Football at Washington State University (then the Washington State Agricultural College) dates back to November 17th, 1894. The sport has been played each year since, excepting 1942-1943, when it was canceled because of World War II.
