Records of the Washington State University Theatre, 1966-1981, were accessioned by the University Libraries in 1985 (UA85-43). The records were arranged and described in the summer of 1989 by Ling Jinqi. Related records are found in Archives 42 and Archives 105.

AGENCY HISTORY

Some history of theater at Washington State University is presented in the preface of inventories for records maintained as Archives 42 and 105.

The particular records deal with theater from the middle 1960s to the early 1980s. During this period University Theatre presented both its Summer Palace series and its regular dramatic series. The majority of the productions were of modern drama.

ARRANGEMENT AND DESCRIPTION

Records of University Theatre consist of chiefly of publicity materials related to specific dramatic productions, such as advertisements, newsclips, news releases, and photographs. Some memoranda and other office materials are included.

The records are arranged in two series that were found within the papers as received by the Libraries - Drama and Management. The Drama files have been ordered alphabetically by the names of the productions. The Management files (which do contain materials similar to those in the Drama series), are presented as an alphabetical subject file. In both cases the alphabetization was added at the Libraries; originally no specific order was used.
