Biography/History
Donald Leslie Masson was born in 1903 and educated as a mining engineer in Oregon schools during the 1920s. The early part of his adult life was spent as a mining engineer in Mexico. In 1946, he became an engineering professor at Washington State University, assuming most of the responsibility for instruction in the mining curriculum until his retirement in 1969. He died in 1971.
Scope and Content
Donald L. Masson's papers consist of consultation reports and drafts of articles, bulletins, and an unfinished book, all relating to mining engineering. Most mining reports are relative to mineral examinations in the inland Northwest. The writings stress metallurgical and "hard rock" mining; these were composed during the years Masson was at Washington State University.
Arrangement
The papers are arranged in two series: one of consultation reports, and the other of drafts of various writings.
